Psychological Evaluation or Developmental Testing

For children who have a diagnosis of mental retardation or cerebral palsy, the Georgia Medical Care Foundation wants psychological testing to document the child’s disability. If the child’s disability is medical in nature, a psychological is not required. There should be a statement to the fact that a child’s disability is medical in nature and a psychological evaluation is not required.

For children under the age of two, psychological testing is not appropriate so developmental testing may be done to provide the needed information.

Georgia Medical Care Foundation requires that a PhD. Sign the psychological. If someone who is not a PhD does the testing, then they need to have the evaluation reviewed by a PhD and have that person sign off on the report.
